What is the meaning of life?
The concept of "the meaning of life" does not bring clear thoughts to my mind-To me it is like asking-what is the meaning of a house, an automobile or a discus. Therefore I will answer your inquiry by focusing on a much clearer concept (to me) of the PURPOSE(s) of life. Most of what I write, if not all, is based on my understanding of life as taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Life on earth is a TEST-
Perhaps the preeminent purpose of a person coming to earth is to learn to live on the earth in accordance with Gods laws (commandments). These laws teach a person to be absolutely honest, have unquestioned integrity, live a completely chaste life, and learn to love God and all of our fellow men (become truly charitable-develop pure love of our fellow beings). I believe that the only person to live such a life was and is our Savior Jesus Christ. We all fall short-we sin in various possible ways. We are blessed to have a "Savior" who, based on our repentance, has, in a way that no human being can comprehend, paid the price for our sins, thus providing a way that we (the entire human race) might qualify to live with Him (Jesus Christ) and his Father in the Celestial Kingdom (when our life on earth is over and we are resurrected) (the highest degree of glory in the eternal worlds). God's Grace plays a very important part in this process.
One of life's purposes is that we (God's children) gain a physical body.
Another purpose of our lives is as the Lord puts it in scripture to "multiply and replenish the earth." We (most of us) are to have children and rear them up in righteousness.
The family is the most important grouping of human beings on earth and in heaven.
A very important truth about our lives is that we all have agency-The ability to choose. We are supposed to "earn our bread by the sweat of our brow's." We (men and women) need to learn how to work at something so we might provide for ourselves and our families. Provisio-lt is very important that children are raised by their loving, caring parents!!
Each person coming to earth has a specific set of talents and abilities. As they learn to express those "things" they are edifying to themselves and others.
